Sunday Morning walking worship through the Old City of Jerusalem
Winding thru the streets of the Old City there is much to see, smell, and navigate around. The City doesn’t rest and our day will take our worship along the way …. we began by singing in St Anne’s Church at the start of the Via Dolorosa. The interesting thing is that the Priest hurried the two groups ahead of us to finish their singing. Then part way through our first song … he closed the door and moved to the back of the chapel. We continued our singing plus another … when we were done, he opened the doors to the chapel and we continued on our way.
We made our way to Calvary and touched the top of the stone there … if you were willing to humble yourselves. The Church was filled with people from all over the world coming to the place Jesus was crucified and buried.
We continued our journey through the Old City and found ourselves on the original steps that led to the Temple. These steps are from the time of Jesus. This is one place where we know that Jesus walked and taught. We took time to reflect on the words of Jesus – Oh and Pastor Rodney was pretty excited to teach in the same place as Jesus.
We concluded our Sunday of Walking Worship by spending time in prayer at the Western Wall.
We weren’t the only people there!
By Epworth count that was 13 more in worship, but by all accounts along the way we walked there were countless 1000s that joined us in worship.
