Today’s Reading – Psalms 6, 8-10, 14, 16, 19, and 21
what are human beings that you think about them;
what are human beings that you pay attention to them?
Psalm 8:4 CEB
We have a group of Psalms written by David to read. And in them David asks a great question of God in Psalm 8, “Why do you care about us?”
When you consider how fickle and prone to evil we are it is a wonder.
I want to imagine that God sees all that we are capable of being and then chooses to love us in spite of how we are currently living.
But I am also struck by the words in the 6th Psalm:
Have mercy on me, Lord, because I’m frail …
If I die, I cannot praise you or even remember you.
Perhaps God cares about us and our well being because we were created to be in relationship with God.
And in our living we can then do what we were designed to do – WORSHIP.
God does care about us … that should not be the question we need ask.
Instead we should ask, What will we do in response to God’s care in our lives?
